Journal Prompts

I am a Pinterest addict. I absolutely love that website! It has great ideas for everything from crafts to decorating your home to recipes. As I was browsing through Pinterest I found a wonderful blog post about journal writing. The person who wrote the blog has started a 5 year journal. It explains more here, but basically there is a question for everyday of the year and you write it in your 5 year journal everyday for 5 years to see how your answer to the question changes over the years. Sorry if the explanation is confusing. She does a much better job than I do.
Rick and I decided that we would do this together to see how similar or different our answers are and how they will change over the 5 years. We aren't the best journal writers, so we are hoping that doing this will get us to write in our personal journals more often. I also decided that it would be fun to post some of the questions and my answers to them on this blog. Maybe by doing this I can blog more too :)

Today's question is:

Are you saving or spending??

A: Currently we are spending (most on ridiculous rent), but we are soon moving in with my parents so we can start saving to pay off some bills and buy our first house!

Missionary Work

Yesterday we had the chance to hear our friend speak at her homecoming. She talked about how important it is for us as members of the church to do missionary work. While leaving church yesterday R had said to me that he wanted to ask his dad why he didn't go to church anymore. I had told him that I thought it was a good idea. I'm very interested to hear what my father-in-law will tell my husband, but I hope that it won't be such a sensitive subject that it will hurt their relationship. It got me thinking about my family and how none of them are members of the church. My dad has expressed that we don't try to convert or talk about the church to him. He has also asked that I don't do temple work for any of his family. This has really put me in a hard spot. I know that I should be doing family history work, but should I respect my dads wishes? R is really big into doing family history work, but his family has done most of it for him and I know that he is very interested in my family history, but we don't know if we should do it or just wait. I'm very grateful for the Thompson family who "home teach" my parents. They are really good about going over and visiting with them just to make sure that things are going well for them. Some day I hope that I will get all the temple work done for my family so that we can all be sealed together.

A Thought Blog

Recently, I have seen several blogs with  peoples thoughts and I love reading them. They are so wonderful! I sometimes have a hard time writing down my thoughts and then when I don't they go away. It frustrates me especially when the thought was really good, so I've decided to start my own thought blog. It is simply a way for me to get everything thing that my heart is feeling and my mind is thinking on to paper. I hope that in writing down my thoughts that it will do something for someone else...inspire someone, help someone, or just lift up their day.

Enjoy!
